One of the Boys

I went to a skateboard event at my sisters work today. I'm so proud of all the work she's been doing at her big girl grown up job :) I can't believe she graduated! Anyways it was a really chill event with bands and food and beer and cute skaters! (My favorite part) Sometimes I wish I could pull off the whole tomboy look but I think my shape prevents it from ever looking right. I do have some friends that pull it off amazingly and lets face it a pretty face in one of the boys attire is just irresistible. I also love the model below with her deep set eyes and striking hair. She was walking through Washington Square Park a couple weeks ago and she dresses like a tomboy even off duty. Gorgeous!

Roomie Love

Today is the day! I'm moving in with my sister and my best friend and another good friend. I've been thinking about this forever and it has been responsible for a lot of spacing out, thinking of how fun this summer will be together. I am so excited to workout and cook and go to the beach and hang out downtown and play with the puppies! If you can't tell, I am really excited. Now the following spread is no where close to where we will be living or how we will be living, but wouldn't it be nice to live together in a beautiful jungle, wearing gorgeous ethereal dresses? Just a swiss family robinson fantasy of mine :) (You know without the being stranded thing)

Birds of Paradise

I was watching Planet Earth (yes I realize I just said Planet Earth) but I really liked watching those videos in science class in highschool. Maybe its because it always meant there was no lecture and I could just daydream, but Planet Earth is just relaxing for me. Anyways, I was watching th jungle episode and the mating rituals of the birds of paradise cracked me up. Besides the ridiculousness of it all, more striking are the breathtaking colors and the idea that the birds "dress" all hot and do a little song and dance to attract the opposite sex. Honestly, they could've shown a segment about the fashion and beauty industry and it would have been the same!

So in honor of our fair feathered friends here are some "bird" inspirations to take note of. Who knows, maybe they'll help you catch your perfect mate!

Kale Chips

finally got around to trying out the kale chips recipe I posted a few weeks past and they were delicious! My abuela munched on them all day. Now of course chips are still a craving, but if I try and munch on these instead of chips once and a while, it'll be sure to help me stay healthy.

Now for mine, I tweaked the preparation a little. I have an olive oil mister so I misted the kale once it was already on the baking sheets and then sprinkled all purpose greek seasoning and pepper. Yummy!

Hello Goodbye

No more school no more school no more school no more school! I know the more conventional relaxation chants go something like "I am calm" but personally I think I've found the best one of all! As you can tell school is out. It was a bittersweet ending because although no more homework is a wonderful thought, knowing that I'll be leaving the city for a year along with my friends is a sad and scary idea. On the otherhand, I am so excited to be home with my friends and family and to celebrate my sisters college graduation and to welcome a summer of fun and creativity. There will be many many more cooking and summer posts to come!
